Croatia is one of the previous lands in Yugoslavia, which since has become independent. The country is situated with a long coast line to the Adriatic. Previously the country was a well developed farm- and industrial land, but the secession and the ethnic conflicts led to economic problems, which the country is still fighting with.
Stamps from Croatia
Croatia appeared on the philatelic map on 9th September 1991 with the issue of the first independent stamp with the country name “HRVATSKA”.
The issue policy is very conservative. Only a limited number of stamps are issued each year and the themes on the stamps tell about the country’s history, landscapes, buildings, artists etc.
