French Andorra is situated between Spain and France and the country has the special property of having two heads of State, i.e. both the bishop from the Spanish bishopric diocese Urgel and the French president, who is the successor of the county of Foix. Since 1931 there has been issued special stamps for French Andorra.
Stamps from French Andorra
The first were French stamps with overprint, but already in 1932 there were stamps with the name Andorra. All later issues from French Andorra are printed by the French stamp printers. Since 1978 these have been printed in the name of “Principat d’Andorra”. Stamps from French Andorra always have the inscription La Poste.
