The legendary aircraft pioneer Charles Lindbergh contributed to the Greenlandic postal history in the summer of 1933, when he helped fly mailbags to distant parts of Greenland. The flights took place in connection with Lindbergh's investigation of a possible flight route from North America via New Foundland and Greenland to Iceland. The trip was a total of 8000 kilometers, and required 43 hours of flight time.
