The work by the Dutch artist Gerrit Dou (1613-1675) hangs in the National Gallery of Prague, the capital of t h heCzech Republic. It is one of the works of art donated by Johann II of Liechtenstein to the then private company of patriotic art lovers, the direct predecessor of today's National Gallery. Like Liechtenstein, the Czech Republic is a landlocked country with a population of around 10.5 million. It comprises the three historic territories of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia
