In 1923, Paavo Nurmi became the first and only runner to set three world records simultaneously in the mile, 5,000 meters, and 10,000 meters, ultimately achieving 22 official world records. He won nine gold and three silver medals, earning the nickname "Phantom Finn." In honor of his accomplishments, Nurmi was featured on Finland's last 10 Markkaa banknote, issued on November 9, 1987, to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the central bank.
