Hugo de Groot (1583-1645) is best known for his legendary escape from Loevestein Castle in a book chest 400 years ago. The gold stamp is the second stamp in a set of 4 de-Groot stamps, each illustrating the main characters in the legend De Groot, Johan van Oldenbarnevelt and Prince Maurits and Loevestein Castle
