Vatican 2025 - Pope Francis and Pope Benedict XVI - 1 colorized coin - Uncirculated

The death of Pope Francis on 21 April 2025 marked the end of a remarkable pontificate. Born in Argentina, he was the first non-European Jesuit and pope in over 1,200 years. This special Vatican 100 lire coin was coloured to mark his inauguration on 13 March 2013 and shows a double portrait of Francis and his predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI, who resigned in 2013 and died as Pope Emeritus in 2022. The reverse features a dove with an olive branch symbolising peace.
